Seeing as how someone rated this park one star for no actual reason, I thought I would take the time to review this park with an accurate review.
I never had to pay to go into a dog park. Compared to every other dog park we've been to, this one by far is the smallest one. When we went, there weren't any dogs around. All Foxx wanted to do was stretch his legs a bit. We recently moved and this dog park is the closest one. I get all dog parks have their rules set in place, but as far as charging goes that's ridiculous and Beacon should be ashamed. Unfortunately he won't be going as often as he's used to, due to work schedules. Middletown dog park is a great one. It is big, clean, always full of friendly dogs and they have obstacles and fresh running water for the dogs. Montgomery dog park is a beautiful large dog park as well. Cornwall's dog park is big, quiet and really makes you feel like you are somewhere in the country side. All of those dog parks are free, large and full of friendly people and their dogs. Beacon sucks for many reasons, but this tops it for me.
Can someone tell me if this dog park built by the city of beacon? I'm confused as to why one would need to pay if its a public park, maintained by the city, and paid for with tax dollars. If it was- I'll keep the one star up there. If it was privately funded, and maintained- I have no problem paying the fees associated with the park and amending this review.
Never have I experienced a pay to play dog park. Don't get me wrong, it's very nice, size able and clean but when we brought our dogs we got a lot of sideways glances and averting of eyes. No one bothered to say hi or explain what the deal was (not that it was their responsibility to help us but it would have been nice) Unfortunately for us we will be driving our dog to another town to get a little socialization.
If you're driving by through New York with your dog you will not be able to get in this park. It is a paid park and for how nice the people are they will not let you and your dog in to run around for a couple of minutes. Reconciliation is Doug Phillips Park
We have been members of the park for four years. My dog loves the other dogs she's met and I have appreciated the owners I have socialized with over the years. There is a strong feeling of community here and this is fostered by having a pay structure in place: the members of this park have a vested interest in ensuring this park is a positive place for us and our pups.
With a volunteer "staff," much in the way of amenities cannot be expected, but there is fresh water and several benches to sit on. What more could be needed?
